NB Building Code Update: Occupancy Changes Need Permits.
The 2020 National Building Code of Canada is now in effect in New Brunswick, and any construction work—including changing a building's occupancy, such as turning a residence into a daycare—must meet Code under the regulations of the Building Code Administration Act introduced in 2021.
Why It Matters
Real estate professionals in NB should be aware that property conversions and renovations may trigger new compliance requirements under the provincial Building Code Administration Act.
